After upgrading server to PHP 5.2, all installations of drupal 4.7.x started giving me "Access Denied" errors
After logging in - system would log you out if any page is visited. Initially this was looking like Cookie problem.
After a short research, i found that this was due to some enhancement in PHP 5.2.x
register_shutdown_function('session_write_close');
This line needs to appended at the end of sites/default/settings.php
This would solve the problem.
